Cold, injured, and trapped on the railroad tracks for two days, this terrified dog faces dificulties. But thanks to her loving companion who faithfully protected her until help arrived, Lucy survived the terrible ordeal. He was too injured to get off the tracks in Ukraine, but his boyfriend, Panda, kept him alive by crouching beside him and lowering his head as the train approached. If the residents of Uzhgorod get too close, the Panda barks to scare them.
The pair were discovered by Denis Malafeyev, who shared a heartwarming video of dogs dodging trains passing over them. Even after they were rescued, they remained huddled together in the trunk of the car on the way to the vet. Malafeyev said it was not clear if he was injured after being hit by a train crossing the tracks.
He added: “This is a touching story. I got a call from a friend who told me there were two dogs lying on the tracks near the village of Tseglovka for two days. When we arrived, it turned out that one of the dogs, the female, was injured and could not move. But the male dog protected him from us. I saw the train approaching and I felt bad. The tom dog heard the sound of an approaching carriage, approached the bitch, and lay down beside him.”
The two of them pushed their heads to the ground and let the carriage pass. “The male dog did this for two days in a row. Think about it. It keeps him warm. I don’t know what to call it: instinct, love, friendship, loyalty? One thing I know for sure, not everyone will do the same. Just to relieve stress, dogs are safe and sound. They get medical help”, he said. Lucy had no broken bones but severe bruises. The owners of the dogs were found and the couple returned to them.
