Shortly after learning that she was pregnant with a young boy, Finn, Page Knudtson got a two-year-old dog named Brutus from a local rescue team. She grew up with boxers so she knew how kind they are. But she couldn’t imagine how important the dog will be for her baby. When Knudtson was 20 weeks pregnant with Finn, her anatomical examination showed a serious heart defect.
Finn underwent several surgeries until she had an open heart surgery shortly after her birth. After 7 weeks and some complications, Finn was finally able to go home. And when Brutus met his younger brother, the connection was immediate. “When we got home, Brutus seemed to know that Finn needed more care. Since then, he’s been by his side,” Knutson said. They are in love and spend every moment together watching TV, playing outside, eating, and taking a nap. Brutus hates to leave Finn for a moment, scratching the door to Finn’s room and speeding up or down outside until allowed.
Brothers don’t even like being alone at night. Her mother found Fin rounded next to her family’s boxer dog, Brutus, and wanted to know how it happened, so she installed a camera. In the adorable footage, Finn can be seen grabbing a blanket at midnight, climbing from his bed and sleeping with Brutus on the floor mat. Brutus doesn’t move much, but Finn tries to be comfortable even if the furry friends need him as a pillow. His mother, Page, who lives in Richmond, Virginia, said, “I always sleep with my dog’s bed, Finn’s bed, and the floor,” and my heart melted.
